“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10
Friendship is truly special, and I am so honored to be writing today’s blog post in memory of my dear friend. In our friends we find trusted companions who know us and love us for who we are, no matter what. Today’s post is a tribute to my best friend Shamsa who lived a beautiful and radiant life and touched everyone’s life that she came across. I met Shamsa 15 years ago, our connection was instant, and she always looked out for me when I needed something whatever it was. Today marks a month since she passed away suddenly. It is still a shock to me, and I am still grieving but today I choose to celebrate her life and what better way to do so than to share a few lessons I have learned on my journey with Shamsa.

- Be Kind
Shamsa had one of the biggest hearts that I have ever seen. She gave without any expectation of receiving and never asked questions. So many different memories of how she would surprise me with lunch, random gifts, or show up unexpectedly to spend time with me. She was so easy to love, and I have learnt that it does not cost anything to be kind to someone because in that kindness lives are changed and a mark is left on the other person.
- Be Intentional
Shamsa was very intentional and reliable especially with her friends and family. She went out of her way to show up and show out where her friends were concerned and always lit up every space she was in. Her friendship got me through some of the tough seasons in my life and for that I am forever grateful.

- Be Respectful
I have learnt to be respectful to people no matter who they are or where they come from. Shamsa was always respectful to everyone she met. She left an impression on people and every time I met someone who I had introduced her to, they would always tell me the same story of how respectful she was and how she went out of her way to connect with them even in my absence.
- Be Resilient
Shamsa was resilient and was always positive no matter what challenges she was going through at the moment. She would smile and say, “Don’t worry, one day we will make it.” I have learnt through this to keep my dreams alive and keep going no matter what obstacle that may be in my way. I will not give up and I will keep going.
There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends that become family.
This type of friendship does not just come about but takes effort and work in order for it to work. Friendship is truly one of the greatest gifts in life. There are sacrifices that go into any relationship for it to stand. One thing that I do not regret is that I always told Shamsa that I appreciated her and loved her. This was a special type of friendship that only happens once in a lifetime, but we can definitely live our lives through her example. I will continue to remember Shamsa the way she lived her life with her big heart, beautiful smile, and loud laughter. Rest in Power my friend. Till we meet again.
